about

I wanted to take Judee's Sill and Graham Nash's already big arrangement and give it the Marc Bolan treatment, pushing it farther into the glam direction. I picked Michael [Cerveris] to sing it because his voice is so undeniably ’70s rock… Judee’s interpretation of god in this song feels similar to this Haitian tradition, with her god as a desperado in some lonely western town [and] the samples on this track are from an album called Haiti Vodou: Ritual Music From the First Black Republic.
